Solid Compensator IMRT

TREAT YOUR PATIENT USING IMRT WITHOUT THE EXPENSE OF AN MLC

Traditional IMRT plans require a MLC to modulate the radiation beam. Panther™ Solid-Compensator IMRT utilizes precision machined blocks for beam shaping, effectively eliminating the need for a MLC. Solid-Modulator IMRT gives you and your patients superior performance using the most advanced technology.

SAVINGS OF HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS

Because an MLC attachment for a linear accelerator is very costly, many clinics have delayed the implementation of IMRT. The significant investment in additional equipment necessary to deliver IMRT plans has also prevented many clinics from being able to offer the treatment technique

Prowess recognizes the need for a less expensive way of delivering IMRT and has developed Panther™ Solid-Compensator based IMRT that does not compromise on the quality of the treatment.

BENEFITS OF SOLID-MODULATOR IMRT COMPARED TO MLC

Because a MLC is a very expensive and sophisticated piece of equipment, IMRT with MLC involves very high implementation and maintenance costs to the hospital. Solid IMRT saves on these costs.

Treatments can be delivered with a 50% or more reduction in Monitor Units (MUs) saving on the wear and tear of the LINAC.

More patients can be treated using Panther™ Solid-Compensator based IMRT than compared to IMRT with MLC, because the delivery time is much shorter.

DAO IMRT – Additional features

  • The delivery constraints on individual aperture shapes (formed either by MLC leaves or by movable Jaws) are directly taken into account into optimization process as well as the weights of the individual aperture shapes. There is no conversion from fluence maps to aperture shapes.
  • Simulated Annealing based optimization
  • Quick convergence ability of the algorithm reduces the time for optimization
  • 3mm x 3mm x CT Slice Thickness Voxel Spacing
  • Optimization option is a license controlled module that opens up as an additional window in the Prowess Panther treatment planning system.
